Setting Goals
Earlier this year I set a goal to really push my business. I knew I couldn't sell my photos from the zoo or Safari Park but once I went...

The Most Incredible Experience, twice!
Yesterday after a bit of traveling and immigration check ins, we finally arrived in Victoria Falls. Before we arrived at the hotel, we had lunch at a traditional African restaurant. Now, I'm not the most adventurous person when it comes to tasting certain foods but as long as it's not spicy, I'll try it. Since I've been here, I have acquired a taste for polenta, the African preparation of polenta. One thing I draw the line on is Mopane worms. Yeah, yeah, they're full of prote

Winding down....
My African adventure is slowly winding down. Tomorrow we fly to Victoria Falls and on Saturday, I start my flight home. I still have one more game drive this afternoon and two nights in Vic Falls. This morning, as usual, I was up before the wakeup call. Fortunately, there were no lions in the camp. However, we’re instructed not to walk unescorted when it’s dark and the 6am wakeup call has us in the dark. I thought I would head out anyway but all of a sudden, I heard so
You know it's going to be an exciting day when.....
You know it’s going to be an interesting day when the guide who is delivering your wakeup call says to stay in your tent and he’ll come back and get you as there are lions in the camp. Well that was just the start; we also found out a leopard had been roaming around. We left a little later for our drive this morning because of the lions. However, once we were on the drive, we were on the hunt and it paid off. The ones that were in camp were 5 females. As we were driving alon
Travel Day
Today was another travel day. We had a much later wake up call, but I was up like a shot at 4am. I diddled around packed up my duffle and once it was light enough, I headed to the main area. We left camp at 8am and got to the airport at 9. We had a short window of internet so all of us made use of it. The first 6 of us went out on the first plane but we had to make a stop and drop off 3 people at another camp. It was the worst flight ever. I literally felt like I was on

Chobe continued.....
Another day, another ginormous millipede and two spiders in my tent. I also had a lizard. Doom, the bug spray, has become my friend. We set off early for our game drive. It was a very productive drive. We finally saw a leopard. It wasn’t too healthy as it was limping pretty bad. We saw giraffes in huge numbers and elephants. We also saw something pretty rare; a sable and elands. They were both together. It was another scorcher today. Our tour leader gave us a briefi
Chobe
Last night was an extremely warm night. I slept some because I had two fans going. The wind was howling so that moved the roof a bit. Didn’t hear any animal noises above that. We had an early wake up call but as usual, I’m up an hour before. We had a small breakfast and then it was out and about on our game drive. It was a good morning; over 1,000 zebras, warthogs. I got some great shots of my favorite bird, the Lilac Breasted Roller. After tea, we started heading bac

Botswana
Last night was an uneventful night. No hippos at my door but I did hear them in the distance. We had a later wakeup call today but as usual I was up before the dawn. We had a leisurely breakfast and then headed to the airstrip to catch a small plane back to Livingstone. From there we took a bus to the Zimbabwe border and a drove to Botswana. From there we took a water taxi across the Zambezi river and road for 1 hour and 30 minutes in an un air conditioned bus to Baobab

Zimbabwe continued....
Last night was an interesting night. After dinner, we were all escorted back to our tents by one of the staff with a gun. Once it gets too dark to see, you aren’t allowed to go back by yourself. I was still warm from the day and really needed a shower. Once I got myself organized, I popped in and cooled off. I wasn’t told this, but others were. You don’t leave the light on in your tent as it attracts bugs. Sure enough I had a done of little suckers on the lamps and the
Heading to Zimbabwe
This morning I woke up before my alarm and took it slow before I had to get down for breakfast and be ready to go by 8:30. I had another omelet in the restaurant and then headed upstairs to gather my stuff. No matter how I repack my duffle is coming out heavier than I started, and I haven’t bought anything. Our leader took us to the airport and got us situated to board our British Airways flight to Victoria Falls. It was another take a bus and climb the stairs to get on.
